ABOUT MSOKA IOT LAB

IoT Developer & 3D Designer from Tanzania

I'm Alex Cosmas Msoka — an IoT developer and 3D designer building practical technology solutions from Tanzania. I started Msoka IoT Lab because I saw a gap between theoretical technology and locally-relevant solutions. My work focuses on building smart systems that address real challenges: irrigation for water-scarce farms, automation for small businesses, and custom 3D-printed hardware that anyone can afford.

Every project begins with a real problem and ends with a working prototype.

I combine embedded electronics with web-connected software to create intelligent systems that sense, respond, and automate the physical world. From programming ESP32 microcontrollers to designing custom enclosures in CAD software, I handle the full stack — hardware to cloud.

BUILDING FOR EAST AFRICA

Technology designed for real local constraints

Msoka IoT Lab builds technology designed for the real constraints of East Africa — unreliable power, limited connectivity, and the need for low-cost solutions that work in the field.

  • Smart Irrigation — Water-saving automation for Tanzania's drought-prone agricultural regions
  • Affordable Hardware — Using accessible microcontrollers to bring automation to small businesses
  • Field-Ready Systems — Designed to work with intermittent connectivity and harsh outdoor conditions

MSOKA IOT LAB PROJECTS & SMART SYSTEMS

Advanced IoT Projects and Smart Systems

Msoka IoT Lab focuses on building practical Internet of Things systems that connect physical devices with software platforms to enable monitoring, automation, and intelligent control.

These systems use sensors, microcontrollers, and communication technologies to collect data from the environment and respond automatically based on programmed conditions.

One example is the Smart Irrigation System, which monitors soil moisture levels and automatically controls water pumps to provide the right amount of water to plants. This type of system helps improve water efficiency and supports modern farming techniques.

Through IoT development, devices can communicate with web platforms where users can monitor system status, view data, and control devices remotely.

CREATIVE 3D DESIGN AT MSOKA IOT LAB

Innovative 3D Design for Smart Devices

3D design plays an important role in the development of modern technology products. In Msoka IoT Lab, 3D design is used to create custom enclosures and decorative structures for electronic systems and IoT devices.

For example, smart desk lamps can be designed with unique 3D cases that combine aesthetics with functionality. These designs allow electronic components such as LEDs, sensors, and microcontrollers to be safely enclosed while also creating visually appealing products.

By using 3D modeling tools, different creative shapes and structures can be designed to support technology devices while also improving their appearance. This allows technology projects to become not only functional systems but also decorative products suitable for desks, rooms, and workspaces.

The next generation of Msoka IoT Lab products will feature fully integrated 3D-printed housings combining circuit mounting, heat management, and visual identity in a single printable part.

Ready to build something?

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Common questions about working with Msoka IoT Lab

How long does a prototype typically take?

Most prototypes are ready in 2–4 weeks depending on complexity. Simple sensor + automation builds can be done in under a week. Custom enclosures add 3–5 days for design and printing.

What's your development process?

We start with a brief call or message to understand your problem. I'll propose a solution, agree on specs and cost, then build iteratively with progress updates. You get a tested, documented prototype at the end.

Do you work with international clients?

Yes — I work fully remotely. Prototypes can be shipped internationally or I can guide a local fabricator using my design files and code.

What's the minimum budget for a project?

Simple automation projects start from around $50–100 USD in parts and labor. More complex systems with custom enclosures, multi-sensor arrays, and web dashboards typically range from $150–500 USD.

Can you provide ongoing maintenance and support?

Yes. I offer support packages for deployed systems — including firmware updates, sensor recalibration, and dashboard improvements.

Do you share source code and design files?

Client projects include full source code and 3D design files by default. Open-source versions of my personal projects are shared on GitHub.
